The Beginning

Camping newbies

It all began in 2017 when the kids asked to go camping, and I realised I needed something more comfortable than a standard tent. I ordered one directly from a factory, tested it in the garden, and we took it on our first family trip to Cornwall — the moment that sparked the start of Bell Tent Village.

Tent sales on eBay took off, and in 2018 I launched my own website, www.belltentvillage.co.uk testing all my setups at Holme Pierrepont. Then came the moment that changed everything — during a photoshoot, a guest walked over and asked if the tent was available to rent. That single question sparked the idea that would eventually grow into Bell Tent Village Parks.

Lock Down
2020-2021 
The beginning of the end

We were weeks away from opening Bell Tent Village Parks in 2020 when lockdown hit and everything collapsed overnight — bookings cancelled, no cash coming in, and almost no stock left to sell. It felt like the end before we’d even begun. I went back to work, restarted online tent sales, and demand exploded as people wanted outdoor space at home. That unexpected growth kept Bell Tent Village alive and set the stage for what came next.

2021- 2022 
All or nothing

When bookings took off in 2021, I was stretched thin trying to run retail, enquiries, and the campsite. Kay had always believed in the vision, quietly supporting and pushing it while still working full-time. She finally left her job of 10 years to join me, taking over sales and design — turning Bell Tent Village into a true family-led partnership.

Family & Friends

As the business grew, we needed more space, and Holme Pierrepont offered us a larger plot to expand. With help from family and friends, we built our own dedicated camping field and grew to 10 tents, filling most of our weekends. It was also the year Kay and I tied the knot. The business was growing, our family was growing, and everything finally felt like it was moving in the right direction.

Mexico
2023-2024
Inbound Flight

In 2023, our identity became clearer, and word began spreading faster than we expected. One of our biggest moments was hosting a wedding with guests flying all the way from Mexico — a surreal sign of how far the brand had travelled. From there, the site was alive every weekend with hens, stags, family gatherings, and celebrations from all over the UK. It was the first time we truly felt the impact of what we were building.

Awakening
2024

2024 tested us with constant rain, flooding, and record-low bookings. Then a guest arrived — seven months pregnant and escaping domestic violence — choosing nature as her safe space. Kay welcomed her with flowers and comfort, and that stay reminded us that Bell Tent Village was always about people, not just bookings.

2025 

After a tough year, 2025 arrived like a breath of fresh air. We leaned into our purpose — building a wellness-focused glamping space where people from all walks of life could find peace, joy, and connection. The weather was beautiful, the village was alive, and guests left with stories and smiles. It became our best year yet, showing us exactly who we were meant to be.

Back To The future 

2026 is about growth with intention. We’re planning a wellness spa area, exploring a second site, developing new tent models, and looking at franchise-style expansion around the UK. One step at a time, we’re building a wholesome future for Bell Tent Village Parks.
